There have been numerous studies backing up claims of the benefits of tea for health. And recently, additional research from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (AJCN) has further supported that tea could benefit our health. In this recent study, the researchers have focused on the effects of tea on weight loss, cancer and cardiovascular risk, bone strength and attention and focus.

The researchers of this so-called "coffee leaf tea" - the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, London and the Joint Research Unit for Crop Diversity, Adaptation and Development in Montpellier made a rare tea out of coffee leaves and claims that this is healthier than both drinks.

What is fluoride?

With this assumption, people, especially diabetes patients, have made green tea a part of their diet in the hopes to lower blood spikes and to improve insulin levels.
With regards this claim, a few medical studies have shown that green tea supplementation might reduce blood sugar levels in people with borderline diabetes.
Latest research studies discovered that black tea benefits the body by potentially cutting down risks of type 2 diabetes and promote significantly lower levels of metabolic syndromes.

The source of Rooibos tea (Aspalathus linearis) is a native of the Western Cape of South Africa. The needles of this shrub turn red when when fermented, and the brewed needles were first drank by the native Khoi people of the Cape.
The Khoi's magic cup of tea is no longer a secret. There is currently a boom in the popularity of Rooibos that is spreading around the world. This naturally caffeine-free cup is most popular in Germany, the UK, the US and Japan with more than 15,000 tons of Rooibos leaves brewed each year.

It's winter, time for cold fingers, hot drinks, and cozy nights on the couch under a blanket. Winter is a perfect time to reconnect with domestic crafts, or learn a new one while enjoying a hot cup of tea.
I learned to crochet during a snowstorm. My older sister was visiting and my entertainment value plummeted when we got stuck inside while 8 inches of snow piled up outside. I made a pot of hibiscus tea and fretted about the plow schedule for the neighborhood. My sister, undaunted, pulled out her hooks, a skein of yarn and set me to work creating a single chain. When I had made one hundred chains, she directed me to rip it out and do it again until my fingers memorized how to make the stitch. In one night, we finished off two pots of tea and I had nothing to show for my work but sore fingers and wrinkly yarn. In two days, I made a scarf.
A couple of days ago I had small accident.
We'll just say that I was perhaps a little too tired to be slicing an apple and in addition to a couple of ounces of beautiful, crisp, sweet gala apple slices, I wound up with a beautifully sliced thumb as well. It was almost like a surprise holiday bonus. Almost.

Many of the herbal teas offered by California Tea House are grown at small, organic farms in California; these farms also provide many of the berries and flowers found in other teas. Even large chains like Wal-Mart have begun to offer and promote organic products. In my experience, organic products taste the same as coventionally-raised and produced food items, yet cost much more. So, what gives? Why is it important to eat and drink organic, even when it coems to tea?
Christmas is drawing near and a crisp chill is in the air as we all plan our holiday shopping lists. I was fortunate enough to get to sample one of the gifts I will be sending to many people on my 'nice' list this year: Gingerbread Chai Tea. Not only is this blend, which is a subtly spicy combination of Rooibos tea leaves, ginger, lemongrass, vanilla and cinnamon, incredibly tasty, but it's also very healthful.
The aroma of this tea, when I first opened the pouch, was heavenly! I love vanilla and you can tell it's in there with the lemon grass and lemon preserves.
While waiting for the kettle to boil I admired the lovely color, set off by the lemon grass pieces.
Once steeped, the flavors came to life with the rich red color... I love vanilla and the vanilla beans came through, as did the lemon preserves, to produce a lovely lemon creme flavor.
Why can't I fall asleep!? Learn Herbal Remedies for Insomnia:
I've have had difficulty sleeping for the majority of my life and lately with the stress of school and late nights, my sleeping patterns are way out of wack. Not wanting to take prescription sleeping pills, It was time I discovered some herbal remedies for insomnia.
I've tried many different remedies : melatonin, warm milk, listening to classical music and nothing has been as consistent as having a cup of tea a half hour before hitting the hay.
Yes I'm one of those people... one of those who can't turn off their minds to get to sleep... one of those chronic insomniacs that take hours to fall asleep regardless of how tired or sleepy I am... and to top that off... I have Restless Leg Syndrome... not to mention the stress of today's economy...
So... every night before I attempt to get to sleep I sit out on my front porch and have a pot... yes a pot!... of some kind of "sleep" tea or sleepy time tea. For two nights now, I've been drinking California Tea House's Bedtime Chai II. Although, the jury is still out on whether it will help with the RLS, I've slept better the past two nights than I have in quite a long time...
I love growing herbs in with my flowers. When I grow Sweet Basil, the most common variety, I love to toss a small sprig into a pot of tea. It adds a delicate sweet spicey flavor.
African Blue Basil
This year I successfully grew two different varieties of Basil, African Blue and Cinnamon Basil. I'm sorry to say that I wasn't successful in growing a Pineapple Basil (beautiful yellow leaves, red flowers and spicey pineapple scent). Also this year, I let my basils flower and go to seed before harvesting. The flowers when dried have a more faint scent and flavor than the dried leaves do. So, since I grew varieties that are a bit more pungent than sweet basil in flavor, I thought that the flowers would be more fitting for my tea.

One of my favorite herbal teas is Chrysanthemum tea. This fragrant tea is reported to have many medicinal values in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Most notably, within TCM, it is claimed that Chrysanthemum tea can help support the immune system, and help keep your body from getting sick. Studies suggest that chrysanthemums contain a high amount of B Carotene. This is converted to Vitamin A in the liver, which can help support the immune system. Drinking the tea is also claimed to have a cooling effect, reducing body temperatures during a fever and soothing a sore throat.
In Traditional Chinese medicine, Ginseng is one of the most used herbs. It is sometimes called an adaptogenic herb, meaning that it is claimed to be one of the best herbs for returning the body to perfect balance. it can be used by itself or in a mixture with other medicinal herbs.
Results in the clinical studies seem to vary widely. Some attribute this to there being several different types of ginseng and the various studies don't always use the same quality of the herb. When taken by itself, studies have found that ginseng has some anticarcinogenic and antioxident properties....
Before leaving China, I knew I had to get one; a proper tea set, complete with a teapot, cups to share and a beautiful glaze. After all, that’s what’s important, right? I wanted a teapot as brilliant as the tea inside.

Here is a fantastic "dessert in a cup" recipe with our favorite tisane, Fruity Dream. This drink is also the best way to maintain your hard earned figure for the summer without sacrificing taste.
Ingredients (per serving):
1. One heaping tablespoon of Fruity Dream herbal tisane
2. One teaspoon of honey
3. One cup boiled filtered water
4. Ice, cubed or crushed
5. Whipping cream
Combine tea and honey in a teapot. Add filtered water, just below boiling temperature and steep for 4 minutes. Stir until honey dissolves. Strain brewed tea mixture over ice in a blender. Blend to your desired thickness. Serve with whipping cream on top or a grapefruit slice garnish to really live it up.
Where would we be in the deadly summer heat without a tall glass of iced tea? This next series will explore the various methods of cooling off with some creative ways of utilizing tea. The first entry was actually inspired by a billboard I noticed while driving around town. It was an ad from McDonald's introducing their newest beverage: sweet iced tea. This prompted me to share with ya'll my Texan mother-in-law's amazing sweet tea recipe that she serves with every meal called Orange Mint Iced Tea.
