  • White Tea

Organic White tea, a specialty of the Chinese province Fujian, is from the young, untreated and delicate loose leaf white tea leaf from the common tea shrub Camellia sinensis as well as a number of other tea cultivars such as 'Da Bai', 'Xiao Bai', 'Narcissus' and 'Chaicha'.  The best organic white tea sometimes contains buds along with the leaves which are known to have lower caffeine levels than older or fermented leaves.  These tea buds, like in our award winning Silver Needle and Organic White Peony tea, are what give the organic white tea its smooth, pure character.

You don’t want to steep white tea too long. Its mild flavor may make you want to push the steep time, but white tea is meant to be soft and smooth. If this is your first time to buy white tea, the best way to learn the varieties and range of flavor is to try our White Tea Flight.

  • Oolong Tea

What is Oolong Tea?  Organic Oolong Tea is a traditional Chinese tea from the tea plant, Camellia sinensis. It has a mid-range of oxidation, falling between typical green and black teas, which helps organic Oolong tea have the best of both worlds. Loose leaf Oolong tea comes from a careful hand selection of the absolute finest Oolong leaves available anywhere.

There's an old Chinese story to explain the name of “Oolong” tea. The story involves a tea craftsman named Wu Long who accidentally discovered oolong tea when he was distracted and started following a beautiful deer after a hard day's tea-picking.By the time he remembered about the organic Oolong tea it had already started to oxidize. We hope our high grade Oolong tea and Big Red Robe Oolong tea can captivate you and help you forget your day's worries, just like the deer of Wu Long!

Here at California Tea House we call Big Red Robe Oolong tea and our other Oolong tea the vanity tea as it is known to help promote weight loss and clear skin. Buy organic Oolong tea with confidence!

  • Rooibos Tea

Rooibos, which is Afrikaans for 'red bush', comes from the amazing health boosting plant Aspalathus linearis.  Organic Rooibos and Honeybush are becoming wildly popular with health conscience Americans due to their super high antioxidant levels.  In its native land, South Africa, it is common to drink organic Rooibos tea with milk and sugar, but is also served 'straight up' as Rooibos is naturally sweet.  The fine grade Rooibos that we use here at California Tea House consists of almost all leafs, no stems, which creates a more flavorful and healthy cup.

Like black tea, organic Rooibos tea pairs well with preserved fruit, flowers and spices, and since Rooibos is naturally sweet, we like to create unique dessert tea blends with our organic Rooibos tea.  There’s nothing like drinking your dessert after a nice dinner, knowing you’re aiding in digestion, boosting your immune system and enjoying flavors as good or better than the most decadent of desserts. You can get all this in a caffeine free magical tea called Rooibos! If this is your first time to buy organic Rooibos tea you should try our Rooibos tea flight.

  • Black Tea

Organic Black tea is the most fermented, or oxidized, of all teas giving it fuller flavor, color and caffeine. Loose leaf Organic Black tea is typically made from the Camellia sinensis and the larger leafed Camellia sinesis 'Assamica' tea plants.  In China and Japan black tea is known as "crimson tea" (hóngchá); probably a more accurate description of the actual tea color which is even used in some garment dyes due to its natural red appearance.  The name black tea is more appropriate for the color of the oxidized leaves prior to brewing.

Organic Black tea pairs well with fruits and spices, and therefore is a perfect candidate for some of our delicious custom tea blends such as Mango Preserves and a twist on the classic black tea from England, Vanilla Crème Earl Grey.  If this is your first time to buy organic black tea you should try our black tea flight.

  • Herbal Tea

The actual word tea describes a beverage created from seeping the leafs of the Camellia sinensis plant and its varieties in hot or boiling water.  After centuries of its use as a recreational, religious and medical drink, the art and practice of using leaves to flavor and enhance water has been dedicated to this method regardless of the form and types of plant species that are used including organic herbal tea.  In modern society, the use of herbs such as lavender, mint, Rosemary, Rooibos, Honeybush, Sage, Chamomile, other herbs, fruits and/or spices heated to flavor and enhance water has become known as organic herbal teas.  California Tea House tries to use organic herbal tea ingredients which require growers to follow strict guidelines of seeding, environmental, soil, fertilizer, solar, irrigation, harvesting, storing and even trading practices.  These strict guidelines ensure that our herbal teas not only are brought to you with the finest ingredients and care, but also that growth and production of these herbal teas have been sensitive to the environment and take measures to ensure it is enjoyed for generations to come.
