I love to drink chai tea, especially in the late afternoon. I've tried a lot of different types which I usually just brew in hot water. I do love them all, but I want to experiment a bit and make my own home-made blend. What is the best black tea for chai? I want to add cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Any suggestions on the best spices mix?
Try with broken Assam. You can also add aniseed, chilli, fennel... For me, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, aniseed and pepper are mandatory. Ginger can be left out in my opinion.
