Tea powder is made by grinding tea leaves into small water soluble particles. Tea powders have been used in Japan for many years, and we are not talking only about matcha tea. Regular sencha green tea powders have much bigger particles than matcha, and are used as a ready-to-go tea powder for preparing tea in the fast way. Hojicha is another tea popular for grinding, and these days more than often drank as a latte. Chinese tea producers are offering different white, black and oolong powders as a substitute for the usual green tea powder. Even African tea can be found in the powdered form – made of white and purple tea leaves.
