Okay, let me get this straight:

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A MAGIC TEA THAT COULD INSTANTLY BURN, MELT, AND DISSOLVE THE AMOUNT OF FAT IN YOUR BODY.

There. I said it.

If you came here looking for a magic potion to weight loss woes, you’d be sorely disappointed. Honestly, you’d get a much better chance at finding a leprechaun riding a unicorn over a rainbow than obtaining a magical solution to losing weight. Anyone who promises to give you a drink that could burn or melt all your fat away is lying. Tea is not the end-all and be-all of weight loss, and that goes for all loose leaf tea.

Here’s the truth: tea can, in fact, help you lose weight, as long as you do the rest of the work. (You know, proper diet and exercise.)

Pu Erh Tea Exposed

Pu erh tea can then be used as a supplement to help you speed up weight loss and reach your goals. Pu erh has caffeine, and caffeine stimulates the nervous system. This gives you a burst of energy that helps promote calorie-burning. But this is true of other kinds of tea.

What makes pu erh the darling of weight loss enthusiasts is the fact that during the aging process of this tea, it develops naturally-occurring lovastatin — a chemical found in prescriptions to lower cholesterol.

Research says pu erh lowers triglycerides and LDL, or low density lipoprotein, also known as "bad" cholesterol. It has also shown it may contribute to raise levels of HDL, high density lipoprotein, or "good" cholesterol.

Some people say drinking pu erh makes them hungry, so I suggest not drinking it before having a meal. Drink it after a meal instead. Pu erh tea increases your metabolism, which means hunger pangs would be magnified if you drink it while you’re hungry. Needless to say, never take it on an empty stomach!

So if you need a drink to supplement your weight loss routine, try pu erh tea. If you want a something that melts all your fat away, go and search for that unicorn-riding, rainbow-jumping leprechaun instead!

(Speaking of leprechaun, we’re currently having a special St. Patrick’s Day sale for our newsletter subscribers. Why? Because everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s day! Subscribe now to get the special deal.)
